NILF Wins at the Supreme Court of Indonesia: Prevention Order Limited to a Maximum of 2 x 6 Months
NILF Advocates & Legal Consultant successfully represented Irjanto Ongko in a petition for judicial review of a government regulation that allowed prevention orders to be extended indefinitely. NILF argued that a prevention order may only be imposed for a maximum of 6 months, and extended once for a further maximum of 6 months, for a total maximum of 2 x 6 months, in line with Indonesia's Immigration Law.
The Supreme Court granted the petition and declared the regulation invalid. This victory is significant for NILF in providing legal certainty.
